Tom Thompson talks about driving the 11 Peters & May

Tom Thompson on getting a chance to drive the 11 Peters & May boat:  "For as long as I've raced, my goal has always been to get to the unlimited level. I'm excited and honored to be doing that with such a great team. I am thrilled to be representing Peters & May - a sponsor of boats at all levels."

Tom Thompson is new 11 Peters & May driver

From u-11 racing:

The U-11 Miss Peters & May announces Tom Thompson of Cambridge, Maryland as their new driver. Over Tom's 27 year boat racing career he has driven every limited inboard hydroplane class, won many World, National and Divisional titles and set several World Records.

JW Myers who injured his shoulder in an accident in Detroit this season said "Having Tommy at the wheel of the U-11 Peters & May in my place is quite comforting, even as a Rookie. Tommy is "The whole package," he has a resume that well exceeds most of the current Air National Guard H1 drivers. He will represent Peters & May very well, and has very strong family values, everything that Unlimited Racing Group looks for in a driver."

Just a reminder that Mike Webster and the 22 Matrix Systems is willing to put your signature on their hydroplane if you'll help with a donation to get them back on the water next year.  There's still a lot of work to do and, unlike other teams, Mike does 99% of the work on the boat himself.

If you want to donate:  PayPal donations can be sent as a personal gift to: u22fundraiser@yahoo.com or check donations can be mailed to: Webster Racing, LLC, 110 East Broad St., Shillington, PA 19607

Has to be the biggest surprise of the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane season

9 Jones Racing has put together an incredible season so far.  With Jon Zimmerman in the cockpit, the team now sits in 5th place in the National High Points Season Championship Race, just 300 points away from 4th.

The team showed real consistency in Seattle, finishing 2nd in three heat races and making the finals for the third straight time.

88 Degree Men driver Scott Liddycoat racing inboards

After Suffolk native and former Hampton resident Scott Liddycoat had to miss the Hampton Cup Regatta last year for the first time since he moved to Virginia, there was no doubt in his mind that he'd race in the event this summer if given the opportunity.

Jimmy Shane averts disaster at Seafair

PHOTO:  @hydronews1
"When Shane felt the throttle give way during the heat — apparently due to the rough water conditions — he knew what to do. Realizing the boat wasn't stopping as he approached the dock, he took a hard left and hung out in the turn.

He then unclipped himself from the driver's seat and reached down and pulled on the pedal with his hand to allow the boat to turn off."

More controversy on Heat 3A...

From 6 Oberto FB page:

According to sources in Seattle, the officials say that we cut the field off on the back stretch before the start. Since this call was made after the heat, and we do have rear cam film showing we did no such thing, they decided to add one minute to our time. The officials have not even came and spoken to the team about this. As you would imagine, several of the team officials are not happy with the call being made, nor the lack thereof of being notified in person. Will keep you up to date on further developments.

Wow.

Nate Brown = Brett Favre??

Brett Favre has nothing on unlimited hydroplane drivers, most of whom announce numerous retirements before one finally sticks.

Nate Brown, in fact, considers himself still retired even though he will be piloting the U-17 Miss Red Dot at the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair unlimited hydroplane race this weekend on Lake Washington.
