U-1 has a 249 point lead over U-16.

David hit a huge hole and nearly went over. He lost power in the engine.

"That was all it had left on the last lap," said U1's Steve David. "I couldn't use all the throttle and I was just trying to finish"

   ONE LAP PENALTY - JUMPED THE GUN

Greg Hopp in the U-100 hit the start first and held the lead through the first lap, keeping J. Michael Kelly in the U-7 right on his hip. But wait... Hopp jumped the gun, costing him a one-lap penalty and any chance at a win. Kelly was the beneficiary and went on to get the win. Brian Perkins in the U-48 moved up to second and Muscatel in the U-25 took third.

U-9/David Williams scratched before the heat.

Rod Bourke grabbed lane one and took a lead at the start. Into the turn, Rod Bourke moved ahead with Kayleigh still back in third.

Kayleigh moved into second by the end of lap 2 and started gaining ground. At the end of lap two, Kayleigh had taken over the lead but it was deck-to-deck with Bourke in the UL-11. As the boats came around the final turn, they came up on Chris Grant in the UL-3 and had to navigate their way past. Kayleigh tightened down a bit on Bourke and ran to the finish line with the win.

ABRA officially signs deal with Qatar

"A historic moment for boat racing," said Sam Cole on KIRO-TV as he prepared to sign the official agreement that will bring 10 unlimited hydroplanes to Qatar for the UIM World Championship.

"The event is excellent," said Sheikh Hassan of Seafair. The Sheikh saw some great racing and even got a chance to get out on the water on the Hydroplane Raceboat Museum's reconstructed Miss Wahoo.

Sam asked the Sheikh if he wants to drive one of these boats. "You never know, it might happen," said Sheikh Hassan.

"We can't wait," Sheikh Hassan said about bring the unlimited to Qatar. "We try to be the pioneers in the sports."

"Doha, here we come," said Cole.

Heat 3A - still waiting....?

Still trying to get clarification on Heat 3A. Conflciting reports whether Greg Hopp did get a one lap penalty (as it appeared on the course) or just a point penalty. Would change order of finish.
