VIDEO: Gold Cup Heat 4a ~ Villwock moves out prior to start

Villwock moved out in the final turn lining up. It appeared he lost power and simply couldn't hold the boat in his lane. The boat shut down. He managed to get re-started, but had lost too much distance to make it back into the race.

Black Lake APBA Race

R/C Unlimiteds running at Tri Cities Water Follies

The race in Kennewick is the longest running tradition in Tri-cities Water Follies history next to the Unlimiteds themselves. These hydro's are 1/8 scale of the real hydroplanes that raced from the 1950 to today and will reach speeds of up to 60 MPH.There will be around 30 to 35 hydroplanes there from Washington, Oregon and Canada.

We will be running three lap heats with five boats in each heat. If we have 30 boats there that will mean 24 heats of preliminary racing. The top five boats in points will make the final. The next six boats in points will run the first consolation with the winner becoming the sixth boat in the final. The next six boats will make the second consolation and will be the trailer boat in the final. The consolation and final are five lap heats.

Testing will take on the Family Fishing pond on Friday starting at 9:00 AM to about 6:00 PM. This is a good time for people to come down to talk to the drivers and see the hydros up close. On Saturday testing will be from 7:00 AM to 9:00AM with a driver meeting at 9:15AM. Racing will start at 9:30. This will give people time to watch us before the big boats run on Saturday.

Some help requested

I got this request from a friend who is in school studying to be a graphic artist, looking to do some 3-D design work on Unlimiteds..

Do you know anyone who might have a diagram of what a hydroplane looks like out of the water? Views like top, bottom, sides, and the engine. or possibly a design of the engine?

If you can help, let me know and I will pass on the info. Thanks!
