Sam Cole reacts...

"We were surprised by Erick's announcement that he will miss the first three races of the season. The ABRA has had numerous discussions about taking this sport worldwide and we support anything the Elam team can do to further that vision. We still are planning on having nine to ten teams make the eastern swing and we believe the competition will be as good or better than it has been in the past two years."

Can't honestly say that I'm at all disappointed by the decision of the Ellstroms to not go back east. And I truly hope that we don't get any "sky is falling" feedback from other fans. There are still a lot of great things happening in the sport, and it is continuing to grow.

This is by no means at the same magnitude as when Budweiser decided to leave the sport.

And it means less whining and poor sportsmanship in the pits this year.

One question, though. Is Madison ever going to get its trophy back?
