It was once a great place to watch a race, but now it's a dump. Even if you could raise the money to fix it up, there doesn't seem to be the appetite from local politicians to do anything about it. The mayor's talked about rebuilding it and opening it and nobody gets excited.

Good luck to the guys working on this, but I just can't see it.

as a current florida guy, anything to get racing to the east coast would be good. Didn't they talk about a florida race site recently? or was that houston?

I used to attend the Miami Unlimited races regularly and they were great. I recently visited the Stadium, and it could be renovated, but the pit area is now a full boat storage marina, and the current makeup of Miami is not condusive to holding boat races. Too bad. It's a wonderful location.

You know what would be cool? If Sam Cole and ABRA would make a proposal to the City of Miami and the Friends of Miami Marine Stadium for a secured race date if they refurbish the stadium. Meanwhile, ABRA could form a committee to find sponsorship and really work together with Miami to make it happen. Wishful thinking, but it would be totally cool!

Jack Lowe posted this video that he shot and it shows the view from the water back to the stadium. Looks like it would be a great venue for racing.
