Here's what I like about people that read this blog. I asked about a boat that ran ashore at Firebird in the 90's... and this photo showed up in my email. It's the Miss T-Plus in 1995 and it broke a skid fin during a practice run. The boat and driver were OK.

Anybody who was there want to fill in those of us that weren't about what happened here?

UPDATE: Photo credit goes to Stephen Lane. Thanks to Craig Barney for the update.

I kind of had a front row seat for that little land expedition...The boat is the former 2 wing T plus (same hull and configuration that won Honolulu (93) and Kansas City (95) and blew over in Madison (95) and Seattle (98). At Phoenix a turn fin bracket snapped at the apex of the turn, that was enough to allow the boat to "roll over" the fin and lose grip. It hiked up and over the bottom of the fin. The time between the bracket breaking and hitting the shore was less than 1 second, hence the dust roostertail. There was minor damage to the sponson bottoms prop, rudder and turn fin. She was ready to race the next day (Sunday) and I think we came in 2nd. or 3rd. overall?? The driver is still messed up :)

That picture was taken by Stephen Lane out of San Jose, California. It is also posted on my site in the Archives / Memorabilia section. He had quite an outstanding collection of Hydro Photos that he took over the years. Many of them are on Leslie Field's site. Mr. Lane passed away May 27th, 2005. We were with him in Phoenix when that shot was taken.

That boat was last seen as Ken Muscatel's U-25 in 2007. The deck was filled in in '99 or '00.

Ken had the boat running well at seattle last summer I just wish Ken would take on the owner role in boat racing. put in Jimmy Shane or Brian Perkins or Kayleigh erkins for the 08 season also put the new style cockpit on the boat the cockpit is 15 years old(LOTS OF STRESS)
