How competitive could 2008 be? Sam Cole said at Seafair 2007, the fastest competition lap was 147 mph. It was turned in by Nate Brown in the brand new U-17.

Nate hit a top speed of 187 during the run and took second in the provisional heat. All that during the first weekend the brand new boat had made it into the water.

SAM COLE IS WRONG THE FAST LAP AT THE SEATTLE RACE THIS LAST SUMMER WAS THE U-37 AT 150+ THE RED DOTS FASTEST LAP WAS AT 145+ VERY IMMPRESSIVE FOR THE FIRST WEEKEND OF RACING FOR THE 17 BOAT.ANY TALK ABOUT RUNNING THE 5/7 FORMAT IN LAS VEGAS LAST WEEK FOR THE UP COMING SEASON 5 LAP PRELIMINARY HEATS AND A 7 LAP FINAL(I DOUBT IT) I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH 5 LAP PRELIMS AND A 5 LAP FINAL JUST UP THE FINISHING FINAL POINTS BY A 100 FOR EACH POSITION.(IT IS THE FINAL HEAT THE BEST BOATS IT HAS NEVER MADE ANY SENSE TO ME TO AWARD SAME POINT TOTALS IN THE FINAL AS PRELIMINARYS).
